Where a residential multi-zone mini-split handles 2–8 indoor units off one outdoor unit, a VRF/VRV system can handle 20–60+ indoor units.

How VRF/VRV Systems Differ from Residential Mini-Splits

Heat Recovery VRF — The Killer Feature

A standard VRF system (VRF-S, or heat pump) heats all zones or cools all zones simultaneously. A heat recovery VRF (VRF-HR) can simultaneously heat some zones while cooling others — transferring heat from zones that need cooling to zones that need heating. In a mixed-use building where one side gets afternoon sun while the other is shaded, this can dramatically reduce operating costs.
