Walk-In FAQs

How much does a walk-in cooler cost to install?
Every project is different depending on room size, system type, and your building layout. We don’t publish prices because a 10×8 restaurant cooler is a very different job from a 30×20 grocery cooler. Call us or use the sizing tool below and we’ll give you a straightforward quote — no obligation.
How long does installation take?
Most small to medium walk-in installations take 1–3 days on-site. Larger rooms or complex builds may take 4–5 days. Lead time from your approval to installation start is typically 2–4 weeks depending on equipment availability.
Does altitude affect my walk-in cooler in Denver?
Yes — refrigeration equipment at 5,280 ft runs about 15% less efficiently than at sea level because the thinner air affects how condensers reject heat. We account for this in every system we size, so you get a unit that actually performs as needed in Denver. This is something a lot of out-of-state suppliers miss.
Can I put a walk-in cooler in my existing building?
In almost all cases, yes. Walk-in coolers are modular — the insulated panels can be assembled inside your space without major construction. We’ll need to know your ceiling height, where you want the condensing unit (outside, rooftop, or mechanical room), and where power is available.
Do I need a permit for a walk-in cooler?
In the City and County of Denver, a mechanical permit is required for refrigeration systems. We handle the permit application and inspection scheduling — you don’t need to do anything. Just let us know if you’re outside Denver city limits and we’ll confirm local requirements.
Do you service walk-in coolers you didn’t install?
Absolutely. We service and repair all makes and models of walk-in coolers and freezers — Heatcraft, Bohn, Hussmann, Copeland, Tyler, and others. If your cooler is not cooling right, making unusual noises, frosting up, or showing a temperature alarm, give us a call.
