Furnace, AC or heat pump: which is right for your home?

  • Keep a gas furnace, add AC if your ductwork is in good shape and you mainly need summer cooling.
  • Add a heat pump to your furnace (a dual-fuel system) to cut gas use while keeping backup heat for the coldest nights.
  • Go all-electric with a cold-climate heat pump to replace both furnace and AC with one system, with the largest rebates.
  • Choose ductless mini-splits for homes without ducts, rooms that are always too hot or too cold, and additions.
Rebates: Xcel Energy pays $1,500 per ton for qualifying cold-climate heat pumps, and income-qualified homeowners may receive Colorado HEAR rebates on top. We apply rebates up front and handle the paperwork. See current rebates or estimate your cost.

Colorado-specific design

At 5,280 feet and above, equipment loses capacity and combustion appliances need altitude-correct setup. We size systems with a room-by-room load calculation, place outdoor units above snow and drift lines, pull the required mechanical permits, and commission every system before we leave.

Heating & AC FAQ

Do you replace gas furnaces, or only heat pumps?

Both. We install and replace gas furnaces and central AC, and we install heat pumps and mini-splits. We’ll explain the trade-offs so you can choose.

Do heat pumps work in Denver winters?

Yes. Cold-climate heat pumps keep producing heat well below 0°F. For very cold or mountain locations we size for altitude and can pair the heat pump with backup heat.

How much does a new system cost?

It depends on the system type, size and your ductwork. Use our Denver cost guide or calculator for a range, then get an exact quote from a free estimate.

Do you work on commercial buildings?

Yes — rooftop units, unit heaters, VRF systems and more. See our commercial mechanical services.
